The best Italian restaurant in Saxony Anhalt
After getting recommendations from a lot Italians that I know here in Halle, I finally went to try the pizza in Stella. Rumor says that this is the best Italian restaurant around!
At first, my colleagues and I wanted to eat there for dinner. Foolishly we didn't make a reservation and it was full! Second time I went with 2 of my friends and this time we got reserved some seats. That evening, we shared a portion of bruschetta and I ordered gnocchi with Prosciutto e Funghi (cream sauce, cooked ham, and grana padano cheese). The bruschetta had cut tomatoes, basil and garlic with olive oil - fresh, juicy and crispy. The gnocchi was super creamy and tasty; to me it was a bit salty because of all the cheese but this will not be a problem for cheese lovers. Portion was big and I was super stuffed and satisfied.
That evening, I just knew that they have promotions: Tuesday to Friday, 11.30-14.30, each dish costs 6€, where as every Wednesday, all pizza costs 7.50€. Knowing that I came to visit the next Wednesday and tried the pizza. There are 45 different pizza selections to choose from. I ordered the carpaccio which was topped with tomato sauce, mozzarella, carpaccio meat, ruccula, and grana padano. My other friend ordered the quattro formaggi which was topped with cream sauce, with four different cheese which includes mozzarella, gorgonzola, grana padano, and mascarpone. They were both really good and highly recommended. Furthermore, the size is humongous, 35cm diameter! The pizza that they sell comes out of a normal steel oven (not firewood oven). Moreover, the dough is thin (not like a biscuit) and airy (not heavy). I heard that they usually prepare the dough one day in advance so I can't imagine how much flour and yeast they would need to make all those pizzas? KILOS!
The week after, which is exactly on May day, I went again with my colleagues to buy pizzas and eat by the Peißnitz park for lunch. This time, I ordered the chef pizza which is topped with tomato sauce, mozzarella, gorgonzola and parma ham. A friend of mine, she ordered the bufala which was topped with fresh cherry tomatoes, parma ham, basil and interestingly a big piece of buffalo mozzarella, on the center. I did not take a picture of the pizzas but there's really nothing more for me to say, you just gotta try it yourself! It's Italian approved, knowing the owners of this restaurant are real Italians. I'd give a 9/10!
